Dr. Nikica Lesjak was born and raised in Međimurje, where he developed a strong sense of responsibility and work ethic, values that continue to guide him in his daily work as a pediatric surgeon. Always open to new challenges, he builds his professional career with great passion and dedication.

🎓 After graduating from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, he continued his professional development at LMU Klinikum Munich and completed his residency in pediatric surgery at the Children’s Hospital Zagreb, where he now works as a consultant in the Department of Pediatric Urology. From the very beginning of his career, his focus has been directed toward pediatric urology and reconstructive surgery, especially procedures that require precision, innovation, and an individualized approach to each child.

📍 During and after his residency, he trained in leading international centers: UMC Utrecht under Professor Tom de Jong, SickKids Toronto with Professor Marty Koyle, IRCAD Strasbourg and Aarhus, Denmark for laparoscopic techniques, and Sava Perović Memorial Hospital in Belgrade with the great Radoš Đinović. He further broadened his skills at hands-on workshops in Turkey, Egypt, and Germany, learning from Professor Ahmed Hadidi, one of the founders of the Hypospadias International Society.

🤝 In addition to his education, he actively participates in organizing international surgical workshops at the Children’s Hospital Zagreb in collaboration with world-renowned experts such as Professor Pramod Reddy and Professor Eugene Minevich (Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, USA), and Mr. Selena Ćurković (University Hospital of Wales, UK). He believes high-quality care involves knowledge exchange, teamwork, and continuous learning.

👨‍⚕️ His key areas of interest include minimally invasive techniques in pediatric urology, such as endoscopic treatment of VUR, urinary stones, PUV, and ureteroceles, as well as laparoscopy and reconstructive procedures, with a special focus on hypospadias and the treatment of neurogenic bladder (Botox, Mitrofanoff, bladder augmentation).

🏀 From 2015 to 2021, Dr. Lesjak served as the team physician for all age categories of the Cibona Basketball Club. During this time, he gained invaluable experience in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sports injuries in developing athletes.

💬 Regardless of his qualifications and international experience, Dr. Lesjak believes that building trust, offering thoughtful and compassionate care to each child, and providing reassurance to their families are the most important parts of his work.
