Sonja Oković, MA in Speech and Language Pathology and certified child and adolescent psychotherapist. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and families, with a focus on language and speech disorders, emotional difficulties, ADHD/ADD and childhood trauma. She is a member of the Croatian Logopedic Association and part of the LittleDot expert team.
Sonja Oković, MA, is a speech and language pathologist and psychotherapist who graduated from the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Zagreb in 2011. Since then, she has been working as a speech therapist at the SUVAG Polyclinic, specialising in the medical rehabilitation of school-age children. In 2018, she completed her education in child and adolescent integrative psychotherapy at the Institute for Psychotherapy and Counselling for Children, Youth and Families (D.O.M.), under the mentorship of Prof. Dubravka Kocijan-Hercigonja, Prof. Gordana Buljan Flander and Dr. Mirjana Graovac.
She holds a European Certificate in Integrative Psychotherapy for children and adolescents. She is currently a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, researching language comprehension and communication functioning in children within institutional and family systems.
Sonja has completed the following specialised trainings:
– Verbotonal Seminar I and II
– Rehabilitation of individuals with hearing and language-speech impairments
– Standardisation training for the TROG-2:HR test
– Workshops on emotional and social competences (ENSEC) and programs by the D.O.M. Institute
She actively participates in national and international conferences, contributing her clinical experience and insights in the fields of logopedics and psychotherapy. She is a member of the Croatian Logopedic Association (HLD) and a valued expert within the LittleDot team.
She is the author and co-author of several professional and scientific papers, as well as book chapters in The First Years Matter Most and Preventive and Social Pediatrics. She also writes expert articles for online platforms such as Miss7.24sata.hr and Životsitlrtl.hr.
Her main professional interests include:
– speech and language disorders (stuttering, cluttering, fluency disorders)
– emotional and behavioural difficulties
– ADHD/ADD
– childhood trauma and family therapy
– social functioning and communication disorders
– anxiety, depression, phobias and the therapeutic use of music
Sonja also volunteered on UNICEF’s project The First Three Are the Most Important, contributing to early childhood development and parental support initiatives.
In her free time, she enjoys travelling, singing and playing the piano. She has won numerous musical awards, including a silver medal at the Music Olympics in China with her vocal ensemble Čarobna frula, with whom she performed across Europe and beyond.
